Suzuki Summer String Camp 2014

Hello Campers! We are so excited about this year's Suzuki String Camp. Below you will find information and updates about camp class schedules, review list and other happenings. Please check the blog frequently before the start of camp, as I will be making updates as final details are solidified.

General Camp Schedule: 

9-9:50am- Mini-lessons

10am-10:50am- Eurythmics or Chamber Music

10:50-11:10 Snack/ Break Time in the lounge area

11:10-Noon- Suzuki Group Classes

Noon-1:30 Lunch and Outdoor Recess (weather permitting)

1:30pm- 2:20pm- Note Reading or Supervised Practice

2:30- 3:25- All Camp Play-in

3:30pm Dismissal

Friday June 20th:
Students will enjoy musical movie time and a Pizza Party during their lunch break. Pizza will be provided by Pompei Pizza (pepperoni; cheese & veggie).
Camp Recital at 2:30pm in the Recital Hall. All parents are welcome.


Camp Guidelines and Rules:

  • Students will be supervised by instructors at all times and are not allowed to leave the premises unaccompanied under any circumstances. Parents must notify Tgonzalez@colum.edu if you plan on picking up your child before the end of the camp day. 
  • The camp will provide daily snacks (listed below) but student must bring their own lunches
  • There will be 3 teachers supervising lunch and recess every day. Students must follow instructions and demonstrate respectable behavior during recess, or else they will be asked to remain in the office during that time. 
  • Students are expected to respect fellow campers and avoid bully-like behavior and language. The camp includes students ages 4-12 and we want to make sure that it is a positive experience for everyone participating
  • This is a strictly NUT-FREE camp due to food allergy concerns. Please refrain from packing lunch items that contains nuts, nut butters or nut oils. If you have questions as to what is safe to pack, please visit snacksafely.com
***Please let me know if your child has any food allergies that need to be accommodated; refer to the snack list below

What should I bring to camp each day?
  • Instrument (bow, rosin and shoulder rest)
  • Backpack or sack with:
    • Lunch
    • Water bottle
    • Sunscreen
    • Folder for music 
    • Any non-Suzuki books that you will be working out of
Snack Schedule:
Monday- Rold Gold pretzels & apple juice
Tuesday- Apple slices & cheese*
Wednesday- Wheat Thins & white grape juice
Thursday- Mixed berry salad & cheese*
Friday- Popcorn & Fruit Punch

*Please let me know if I need to provide soy cheese for lactose intolerance
